This stole is made by women artisans of Disha, in Rajasthan, India. This stole is made using the stitched shibori technique which involves stitiching a pattern into the cloth before dyeing it. The pattern was made using a sewing machine. The fabric is cotton-silk, handwoven in Chanderi, in Central India.
Disha is owned and operated by Amrita, a victim of domestic violence herself, and is now empowering other disdvantaged women by training them in surface design techniques. Thank you for supporting their work.
