I am now a sari silk necklace

Once upon a time I was a colorful silk sari. I belonged to a beautiful young women in South Western India and lived in her wardrobe in a long time.

Then one day, a woman with utensils piled high on her head knocked on the door of my owner's house. She was a sari trader, trading her utensils for saris.

I was enveloped by a gripping fear! I was worried I might be traded. I have been around a bit, and was worn in a few places.

I was sad at being traded. But I consoled myself...

At least I won't be trashed on a landfill. Ugh. What a relief. Looking forward to my journey with a new owner.

Seema was my new owner. She sells saris to tourists (and others) on the pavements of New Dehi

Seema haggles with the tourists. See me there?

She is a lovely designer. Her name is Katherine

Those colors. I have to admit I was a little envious! But whew. Saved from the landfill again.

Some skilled artisans worked to make me and my other sari friends into a necklace. But not before I was a scarf first (unbelievable, right?)

And now I am a necklace with another owner. And a new journey to look forward to.

Will you be my new owner?
