upcycled silk sari string necklaces - peaches and cream
This upcycled silk sari necklace is handmade by the House of Wandering Silk (HOWS) from textile scraps that remain after making their up-cycled kantha silk sari scarves. Creating these necklaces from textile scraps form a core element of their "zero waste" policy. The HOWS team selects the most striking colors and prints from the mountain of sari remnants (that would otherwise end up on a landfill). They then match the scraps together and cut and sew them into tight tubes. They then turn these inside-out, carefully position them into layers and hand-finish them.
The House of Wandering silk is a woman-owned-and-operated social enterprise based in New Delhi, India. They work with rural artisans to produce a range of innovative and beautiful textile using ethical practices.
