This reversible, upcycled silk sari shrug/jacket is hand-made by a woman-owned-and-operated social enterprise in New Delhi, India.

It is made using 2 layers of vintage sari fabric, hand-picked and paired piece-by-piece by color and design.  The layers are then stitched together using the "kantha" stitch, in which women from a low-income co-operative in West Bengal sew rows of tiny running stitches from end-to-end. This detailed and labor-intensive work re-inforces the layered fabric, and  creates a rich, rippling effect across the fabric that adds a unique texture the scarf.

This jacket/shrug is a limited edition piece, and one-of-a-kind. You will never see the same combination of fabrics and threads twice. This kantha embroidery is of the highest quality, stitched by women whose families have been sewing kantha for generations in West Bengal, India.
