handwoven khadi jamdani scarf - off-white

$65.00Price
  • This  khadi "jamdani" scarf harkens back to a time of India's finery in muslins ("woven air")  which were coveted throughout the world. In 2013, the traditional art of jamdani weaving was protected by Unesco as a form of intangible cultural heritage. Thanks to revivalists like Arundati Maitra, who designed this scarf this technique is making a comback.

    • 100% cotton, handspun and handwoven khadi

    • Measures approx. 27.5" x 77.5"

    • Handwoven by weavers in rural West Bengal

    • Dark indigo extra-weft motifs and gold stripes adorn the soft and sheer cotton khadi fabric.

    • The motifs are inlaid by the weaver while the fabric is still on the loom

    • The scarf has a soft-to-the-touch handfeel and has the crispness of handwoven cotton

Any irregularities are inherent to the handcrafted process of this product, making it beautifully unique.
