Hand-block-printed, handwoven and handspun wild peace silk wrap - indigo leaf
This wrap/shawl is designed by Neesha Amrish of Aeshaane in Chennai, India and is made using peace or cruelty free silk, where the silkworkm is not destroyed in the making of the silk. The moth makes a hole as it leaves the cocoon. As a result the silk fibres are shorter than convetional silk. The silk is textured but it is soft and drapes beautifullly. The silk worms are reared outdoors on trees and the silk is made in collaboration with tribal silk worm rearers. Rural spinners and weavers come from marginalised groups and are paid a fair wage and empowered by sustainable employment. The wrap is hand- block-printed by a team of printers who work with Neesha.
